But roughly speaking, I think a humanist is someone who:
- trusts science when it comes to understanding how the universe works and doesn’t believe in the idea of a supernatural or higher power
- makes ethical decisions based on reason, empathy and with concern for human beings and the planet
- believes that we only have one life and that we have the responsibility to give shape and meaning to that life whilst helping others to do the same.
